Double Wood Rhodiola Rosea 500 mg Review

Double Wood offers 120 vegan caps of 500 mg extract at a strong price, third-party tested and made in the USA. The catch is on the label: it's standardized to 3% salidrosides / 1% rosavins — the inverse of the 3% rosavins / 1% salidroside SHR-5 extract most human fatigue trials used. If you want the studied profile, this isn't it, and the label is easy to misread.

▸ THE SCORE

How we built the SAC Product Score™5.8/10

Standardization & Actives Match30%4.5/10

Standardized to 3% salidrosides / 1% rosavins — the inverse of the SHR-5 profile the fatigue trials used. It carries both compounds, but in the wrong proportion for the studied effect, which is the central problem.

Third-Party Testing20%6/10

Third-party tested, gluten-free, made in the USA. Reasonable transparency for a value brand, though not at the practitioner-brand level.

Dose vs Clinical Range25%6/10

500 mg total extract overshoots the 200-400 mg window, and the inverted ratio makes the effective rosavin dose lower than the milligram count suggests.

Tolerability & Safety10%6.5/10

Generally well tolerated; the higher relative salidroside may feel more stimulating for some. Start low and take early in the day.

Value15%7/10

120 vegan caps at ~$18 is a genuinely good per-cap price and a long supply — value is the main thing going for it.

▸ TRUTH CHECK

Marketing claims vs. reality

False

Double Wood delivers the studied rhodiola profile

Its 3% salidroside / 1% rosavin standardization is the inverse of the SHR-5 extract (3% rosavins / 1% salidroside) used in the classic fatigue trials (Darbinyan 2000, PMID 11081987; Spasov 2000, PMID 10839209).

Verified

It's third-party tested and made in the USA

Double Wood states third-party testing, gluten-free formulation and US manufacturing — reasonable QC basics for a value brand.

▸ THE DEEP DIVE

What our test actually found

01The label wording is a trap

'3% salidrosides / 1% rosavins' reads almost identically to the studied '3% rosavins / 1% salidroside' at a glance — but the compounds are swapped. Buyers who don't parse it carefully will think they're getting the trial extract when they aren't.

02Value can't rescue the wrong ratio

At ~$0.15/cap this is cheap, and the testing is fine. But on a list where standardization to the studied profile is the axis, an inverted ratio caps how high it can rank regardless of price.

▸ THE TRADE-OFFS

Pros & cons, no sugar-coating

Pros
  • Strong value — 120 vegan caps at a low per-cap price
  • Third-party tested, gluten-free, made in the USA
  • Contains both rosavins and salidroside (single ingredient)
  • Long supply reduces reorder frequency
Cons
  • Standardization ratio is inverted versus the studied SHR-5 extract
  • 500 mg overshoots the dose window and the effective rosavin content is low for the milligram count
▸ THE BOTTOM LINE

Skip it for the studied effect — the ratio is flipped

Double Wood is a fine value product with real testing, but the inverted 3% salidroside / 1% rosavin standardization is the wrong chemistry for the stress-fatigue evidence. Choose a rosavins-forward 3%/1% cap like Life Extension or NOW if you want what the trials actually used.
