Best for support + coolingViscoSoft · passive copper-infused 4 in memory foam topper, washable cover, Queen
ViscoSoft 4 Review
The ViscoSoft Active Cooling topper is on our bed-cooling list for a buyer the other seven picks ignore: the person whose bed is both too warm and genuinely uncomfortable. Every other product here assumes your mattress is fine and heat is the problem. This one assumes the opposite — that you'd upgrade the sleep surface itself if you could, and you'd like it to run cooler while you're at it. Four inches of copper-infused memory foam is a serious comfort layer: it adds deep, pressure-relieving cushioning that can rescue a too-firm mattress or smooth a moderately tired one, held in place by an anti-slip strap system under a breathable, moisture-wicking, machine-washable cover. The foam is CertiPUR-US certified — the low-VOC, restricted-chemicals standard we require before recommending any polyurethane product for nightly skin proximity.
The cooling claim needs the honest frame its 'Active Cooling' name doesn't quite give it: this is passive cooling, and the mildest on our list. Copper infusion spreads and dissipates heat so the foam avoids memory foam's notorious heat-trap effect, and the wicking cover helps at the surface — cooler than standard foam, genuinely; cold, no. That's why cooling power scores 6.0, the lowest of our eight, while material and feel scores 8.8, among the highest. Buy it when support is half the goal; buy elsewhere when heat is the whole goal. Here's the full breakdown.
