Marketing Claims Vs. Reality
99% utilized by the body.
A figure from the brand's own materials. The listing shows a utilization chart with no published study behind it that we could find.
Essential amino acids, optimized ratio.
Nine essential amino acids are named. The ratio cannot be checked because no amounts are printed.
NSF Certified for Sport.
Listed in NSF's database as 'Perfect Amino Coated Tablets', listing 1807050, lot YF484A (checked Oct 11, 2026).
What Our Test Actually Found
A blend inside a blend
The 5 g is not all amino acids: seven of the sixteen named ingredients are nucleic acid components. With no split printed, the EAA dose could be 4.9 g or much less.
The 99% claim
'99% utilized' is the product's central promise. It compares the blend to whey and eggs on a chart the brand supplies. Free-form EAAs are absorbed quickly and stimulate muscle protein synthesis (Ferrando 2023), but that is true of every product on this list.
Why it is listed at all
It is the one tablet EAA with an NSF Certified for Sport listing, and for some people tablets are the difference between taking aminos and not.
Full analysis: all pros & cons (7), buy if / skip if
- Tablets: no mixing, no taste
- NSF Certified for Sport for a listed lot
- No sweeteners, flavors or colors
- Proprietary blend with no amounts
- At most 5 g per five tablets, part of it not amino acids
- $3.00 per 10 g of blend
- '99% utilized' is an unverified brand claim
- You will not drink amino powder and want tablets
- You are tested and can match the NSF-listed lot
- You travel and want no mixing
- You want to know the leucine dose
- Price per gram matters
- You want a bigger dose per serving without swallowing ten tablets
Tablets are convenient and the NSF listing is real. But you pay $3.00 per 10 g of a blend whose amino acid amounts are not printed, and one serving is at most 5 g. The '99% utilization' figure on the listing is a brand claim.
PerfectAmino is the best-known EAA in tablet form. Five coated tablets make one serving of a 5 g 'EAA & NA Proprietary Blend'. The blend names nine essential amino acids (leucine, valine, isoleucine, lysine HCl, phenylalanine, threonine, methionine, tryptophan, histidine) and seven nucleic acid components such as uridine and adenosine triphosphate. No amount is printed for any single ingredient, so the EAA content is somewhere under 5 g and the leucine amount is unknown. The only other ingredient is an organic tablet coating. NSF's Certified for Sport database lists 'Perfect Amino Coated Tablets' for lot YF484A in sizes that include the 150 count (listing 1807050). The brand's claim that the blend is '99% utilized' is its own and rests on no study we can point to. A 150-tablet bottle cost $44.95 on Amazon US on Oct 11, 2026.
Convenient, certified by lot, and closed about its contents
PerfectAmino solves one problem, taste, and creates another: you cannot see what you are taking. If tablets are what you need, it is a defensible buy, lot number in hand. For anyone who can drink a powder, NAKED and Momentous print every amount and cost less per gram.
If This Doesn’t Fit — Try These
01NAKED EAAs
If you want essential amino acids in a dose that matches the research, this is the tub: 9.25 g with 2.4 g of leucine, all nine amounts printed, nothing added but sunflower lecithin.
02Nutricost EAA Powder
For sixty cents a scoop you get 8 g of EAAs, plenty of leucine and a label that states third-party testing.
03Momentous Vital Aminos
Momentous earns its place with one thing none of the cheaper tubs has: NSF Certified for Sport for every lot, confirmed at the certifier.

Is PerfectAmino really 99% utilized?

PMID 37800468 — International Society of Sports Nutrition Position Stand: Effects of essential amino acid supplementation on exercise and performance. The ISSN position stand concludes that free-form EAAs raise blood EAA levels quickly and stimulate muscle protein synthesis, that the response starts at 1.5 to 3.0 g at rest and plateaus at about 15 to 18 g, that non-essential amino acids are not needed for it, and that aging calls for a larger share of leucine.

Pooling four tracer studies, the peak blood EAA concentration was the strongest predictor of muscle protein synthesis after feeding; a 100% rise in peripheral EAA concentration raised the fractional synthetic rate by about 34%.
